The Rangpur Urban Youth Council, in collaboration with SERAC-Bangladesh, recently hosted a Peace Adda on 25 February at the Ward 38 Secretary’s Office, Tajhat, Ansari Mor. The event brought together youth councilors and volunteers from diverse communities across Rangpur City Corporation to address pressing issues around rumor prevention and disaster awareness.

The session served as a platform for knowledge sharing, dialogue, and community planning. Participants discussed strategies for combating misinformation, enhancing disaster preparedness, and organizing awareness programs at the community level. By focusing on both online and offline approaches, the Peace Adda emphasized the importance of equipping residents with verified information to make informed decisions during crises.

Planned initiatives emerging from the discussion include educational programs on disaster readiness, community dialogue sessions, and campaigns across social and traditional media platforms. These efforts aim to empower local communities, reduce fear and misinformation, and foster stronger social cohesion.

The Peace Adda highlighted the pivotal role of youth in building resilient and peaceful communities. Through active engagement, the young participants demonstrated that collective awareness and proactive planning can significantly improve community safety, trust, and cooperation.
